Tree of the Week: Sept 16, 2025

ArborNote’s Tree of the Week was chosen by our AI wiz, Mark DeYoung! Mark chose the Texas Red Oak (Quercus buckleyi). Texas red oak usually is 30 to 50 feet tall at maturity, and seldom reaches a height of more than 75 feet. It is endemic to the southern Great Plains of the United States (Oklahoma and Texas) and is a favorite habit for many native bird species. It is a highly regarded ornamental and shade tree, so it has been planted outside of its natural range in many parks and recreation areas. In autumn, the leaves turn vivid red and orange, making it a fall favorite!
