Tree of the Week: March 12th, 2024
ArborNote’s Tree of the Week is the Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa). This tree is native to Eastern North America, but they have been planted across the country because they are a popular shade tree. It’s an important tree on the eastern prairies in the United States because it grows near waterways marking the location for travelers. It is also drought resistant due to its long taproot. They also have the largest acorn of any North American Oak. American black bears love them so much, they often tear off the branches to get them!
