Tree of the Week: February 3, 2026

ArborNote’s Tree of the Week was chosen by one of our developers, Umar! He chose the Neem Tree (Azadirachta indica). The Neem Tree is native to the Indian subcontinent and to parts of Southeast Asia, but is naturalized and grown around the world in tropical and subtropical areas. It is a fast-growing tree that can reach a height of  49 to 66 ft with a fairly dense crown that is roundish and may reach a diameter of 66–82 ft! Its fruits and seeds are the source of neem oil. Neem oil as an organic insecticide and fungicide in gardening, and for medicinal/cosmetic purposes on skin and hair. It controls pests like aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies, while treating skin issues such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Neem leaves are dried in India and placed in cupboards to prevent insects from eating clothes, and in containers in which rice and wheat are stored. The flowers are also used in many Indian festivals like Ugadi.
