Tree of the Week: April 16th, 2024
ArborNote’s Tree of the Week this week is the Canary Island Date Palm (Phoenix canariensis). These palms are everywhere around our office in Irvine, California and are a staple in Southern California’s landscaping. These palms are originally native to Northwest Africa and the Canary Islands, they have been planted across the world as an ornamental tree. They are recognizable because of their unique pineapple shaped crown and their towering height. They can reach between 40-60 feet and have a lifespan of 200 to 300 years if cared for well. However, they are slow growing, and can take 80 years to reach their full height!
